Help us better understand the damage caused by natural hazards
Severe natural hazard events, such as floods or strong winds, can disrupt lives and cause property damage, financial loss, and casualties.
NIWA and GNS Science are working together to develop new tools to help increase the resilience of New Zealand communities to the impacts of natural hazard events. By analyzing past events that have caused damage we can develop an improved understanding of how natural hazard events impact on our lives which in turn contributes to the development of new ways of increasing our resilience to such events.
If your property has recently been damaged or affected by a flood or wind storm event, irrespective if the damage was minor or severe, your observations of the damage are of considerable value to us. We would be extremely grateful if you could download and complete one of the following Damage Report Survey Forms and return it to us. The data will be kept confidential and only be used for scientific purposes.
